Accounting and Technology

The accounting field has been truly enhanced in the past few years and it can be directly correlated to the increase of technology. Programs such as excel and access make accountants jobs and lives easier. Math is simply done for the user in the program. Instead of the old fashion way of looking at trial balances and using a calculator to add up expenses, the computer program has the trial balance on screen and everything added up correctly. This is very good for the accounting field because mathematical errors are less likely to happen and more time can be used in different activities instead of spending time adding and correcting mistakes. Microsofts program Excel is by far one of the greatest additions to accounting since GAAP was created and it will be used for years to come.
